After studying for hundreds of hours and applying the techniques I learned, I began to quickly realize some things about marketing. One important rule I realized is promoting a business leaves little room for sentimental feelings about techniques used for a successful ad campaign.
I have been using Google products for years and have become one of their Agents and was pursuing the next level, but something changed all of that. But first, here's some facts "in my mind" about promoting businesses wherever you are in the branding stage, getting new customers or retaining loyal ones. I'll go from hardest to easiest methods and techniques. I like saving the best for last.
CPC, PPC, Banner & Video Ads or whatever else method of ad campaign can be very effective, however, they are A LOT OF WORK !!! It can be done successfully, but you need the horsepower of Google's Webmaster Tools, Analytics, the Keyword Tool and about 4 other in-depth control panel style tools. That's great if you can afford to hire a specialist like me to run the whole thing, or maybe you could save some money and remember the 100+ hours of training you'll need. I have actually heard of business owners getting … well, quite despentent to put it lightly, when trying to get a good ROI using online advertising campaigns. Class A personalities may find this approach quite refreshing though. I kind of enjoy it myself.
Personally, when I'm online it is for a purpose, I'm on and off quickly, so I ignore all ads because I'm not interested in buying.
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization has recently been seen as more effective than online advertising according to a study which almost surprised me. But then again, online advertising is kind of a captive audience which does not resonate well with many people, so in most cases your ad gets ignored completely. SEO is usually done by a specialist also and is a lot cheaper than running an online advertising campaign and gives great organic search engine results.
Text Message Marketing
Although I do not text, even Google knows that mobile advertising is big, and I tend to agree. One particular Test Message Marketing System really got my attention recently while chatting with an entrepreneur by a bonfire of all places. What I really like is the simplicity of their text message marketing system, the ROI plus a flat rate price. Any one who has crunched the numbers knows how much a new customer can cost, so a flat rate price is a huge bonus! You do not need to hire a specialist to run your text message marketing ad campaign either, there's a big savings right off the bat. I realize I'm kind of cutting my own throat as a "Specialist", but facts are facts. YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS TO SURVIVE.
I spend many years traveling, so I watched many small to medium size businesses close their doors … that makes me sad. I hope this article can prevent at least a small hand from losing their business because of some conglomerate that has moved into town.
