The Importance of a Good Website Design

To show the importance of a good website design into perspective, imagine when you are purchasing a T-Shirt. First of all, what do you look at? The design of the T-Shirt, of course. Well most people do, other than the material factor. But let's assume that all other factors are constant, would not the design or looks, become the key factor then?

Here are two situations:

Situation A: A website with good design and breathtaking graphics. Good color schemes with high quality pictures. Good layout placement, proper fonts and word sizes.

Situation B: A website inversely equipped with hideous graphics and amateur blurry pictures in terms of resolution, quality and relevance. Bad color schemes; red pictures with a bright green background. Fonts used were not appropriate; a casual font is used for corporate website, font size is too small makes it hard to read.

Situation A, visitors that enter the website are immediately awestruck by the design and artwork. The well placed pictures and designs will somehow boost the positive nature of the company / website. As you know, most people DO judge book by its cover.

As for Situation B, the unpleasant environment due to severe lack of creativity and badly taken pictures would not exactly help in attracting visitors. Fonts that were hard to be read, let alone comprehended, and mismatching themes in terms of color, is not exactly welcoming, is it?

Analysis: Now the main idea is to always plan your website. Always think the purpose of the website, then design the website to complement that purpose. A website without a purpose is a disaster. And a bad design website is even worse.
